“Predict: why is it necessary to enroll in a foreign language course, in this case Spanish, to graduate from high school."

I am a native speaker of the Spanish language, so naturally speaking, writing and reading come easy to me. Students who learn a new language and do not have any background knowledge of it,  so they tend to struggle more than those who already have some knowledge about it. Non-native Spanish learners encounter many different problems, and have many uncertainties.  I would like to understand the uncertainties of a non-native Spanish learner, and help them progress. Spanish is the second most spoken language in the world, so I think we should offer that language in any school level education, to be up-to-date with the contemporary world.

When I asked my mentor this question she said, "Although some colleges do not require it, a good number of colleges require their students to take at least one -year of a foreign language. Apart from fulfilling requirements, students are better prepared to be an active part of our increasingly competitive global economy. Students also gain knowledge about other cultures, they can also use this as a way to discover new interests."
